Schletterer to design German oasis
Spa and wellness designer Heinz Schletterer is to plan a 107,600sq ft (10,000sq m) wellness paradise within one of Europe’s largest tropical leisure centres in Germany.
The spa will be located within the existing Tropical Islands leisure centre, which opened two years ago at the old Cargo-Zeppelin cantilevered hall in Krausnick, Brandenburg.
There will be a total of six different wellness areas and two extra lifestyle areas. It will also feature a gemstone steambath and two ayurvedic treatment rooms, designed in the style of India’s Elephant Temple in Bombay.
The spa’s relaxation and meditation rooms have been created in the style of Asian pavilions while its Alcantara Canyon wellness area encompasses waterfalls, heavy rain showers and water basins, plus a salt and mineral room and a healing-earth bath.
Other facilities include a jungle village with herbal saunas, blossom steambaths, tree saunas and showers, a giant earth sauna, hydro massage showers and a large-scale replica of the Angkor ruins of Cambodia.
The Tropical Islands building was originally built for Zeppelin cargo ships and houses a large indoor rainforest and one of Germany’s highest waterslides.
