Savoy to reopen in October
After closing in December 2007 for a restoration programme which encompassed the entire building, London's iconic Savoy hotel will be reopening on 10 October this year.
The structure's new interiors have been designed by Pierre Yves Rochon, working with Chorus Group as general contractors and Reardon Smith as architects. The cost of the project has been reported as being in excess of £200m, structural problems having delayed construction. Highlights of the renovation include the complete remodelling of the River Restaurant, the addition of a new two-bedroom Royal Suite and the re-launch of 38 River suites and guestrooms with views over the River Thames.
New to the hotel, 120 years old and managed by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, will be The Beaufort Bar, an art deco bar offering champagne, cocktails and cabaret, and Savoy Tea, a bijou teashop selling Savoy tea, accessories and fresh patisserie. Elsewhere, a winter garden gazebo with an ornate glass dome has been reintroduced to the Thames Foyer, while the Savoy Grill will return under the operation of Gordon Ramsay Holdings with chef patron, Stuart Gillies and head chef, Andy Cook.
Other facilities include a contemporary, glass enclosed fitness gallery and rooftop swimming pool.
