Sandwell scoops Community Initiative of the Year Award
Sandwell Leisure Trust's Physical Activity Development Officers scooped up the Community Initiative of the Year 2010 Award at the Black Country Sport & Physical Activity Awards.
The awards ceremony took place on 8 October at the Copthorne Hotel in Brierley Hill. Sandwell Leisure Trust manages four Physical Activity Development Officers that are funded via the 5x30 project.
The Officers cover Rowley Regis, West Bromwich, Tipton and Smethwick areas working within the local community to promote physical activity to local residents to get them more active and involved in sporting activities.
The success did not stop there as Howard Court, Sandwell Leisure Trust's Athletics Development Officer picked up the Coach of the Year Award for the second year in a row.
Rebecca Clayton, Sports Development & Physical Activity Manager, said: "These awards are well deserved and is great recognition for the team as well as for Sandwell Leisure Trust.
"All the winners are dedicated to their work and ensuring Sandwell becomes a success story in terms of sport and physical activity."
