New York’s flagship Saks Fifth Avenue opens 16,000sq ft wellness space
New York’s famed department store Saks Fifth Avenue has opened The Wellery, a new concept shop dedicated to wellness. The 16,000sq ft (1,486sq m) space is located on the second floor of the flagship store on Fifth Avenue, and will be open through October 2017.
The space includes 22 spaces offering skincare products and treatments, fitness classes and equipment, women’s and men’s activewear and athleisure apparel. A Saks Wellery concierge will help customers determine which offerings best suit their needs.
The Wellery includes a Skinney MedSpa, which offers non-invasive body contouring and high-tech facials; a Sundays nail studio, which specialises in two-in-one manicures and meditation; a Breathe dry salt therapy room; Blink brow bar; and Bodyism fitness lifestyle space.
MNDFL will offer meditation classes, and wellness-focused events, including reiki healing, meditation and massages will also be hosted at the space.
Studios offering fitness classes in dedicated studios include ConBody, a prison-style boot camp using only one's body weight; and Bendable Body, a specialised stretching method that works on connective tissue.
Showrooms from Technogym, Peloton and Martone Cycling Co. showcases the latest in home gym equipment, and New York City’s Drive 495 offers customised stretching and workout routines aimed at helping clients achieve athletic goals. Activewear brands include Beyond Yoga, S'well and Alala.
“The Saks Wellery, our latest concept shop, focused entirely on wellness, continues the Saks tradition of elevating shopping to a higher level by building exciting customer experiences,” said Saks Fifth Avenu chief merchant Tracy Margolies. “We want the Saks Wellery to be a sanctuary for our customers – a place to find peace and solace in the middle of our bustling city.”
Saks prides itself on creating experiential environments; in 1935, an indoor ski slope was constructed in the flagship store in order to offer skiing lessons.
