S&P-designed Horley Leisure Centre wins Green Apple Award
Horley Leisure Centre - the £9m facility in Surrey designed by S&P Architects that opened earlier this year - has received a Green Apple Award in recognition of the building's green credentials.
The Green Apple Awards for the Built Environment and Architectural Heritage are designed to recognise projects across the country that "demonstrate environmental endeavour".
Built by Pellikaan Construction, Horley Leisure Centre incorporates a range of sustainable features such as a biomass heating system and has already received an 'A' energy rating.
Reigate and Banstead Borough Council's Adam De Save said: "We made a real effort to ensure that the centre was not only environmentally friendly in its operation but also in its design and construction."
It will be revealed whether Horley Leisure Centre has won a Gold, Silver or Bronze award at a ceremony to be held in June.
