SLL is preferred bidder for Rutland Big Build scheme
Sports trust Stevenage Leisure (SLL) has been selected as the preferred bidder for a new leisure management contract at the Rutland Sports Big Build.
Construction of the Big Build at the Vale of Catmose College in Oakham is due to begin this month and scheduled for completion in September 2010. New facilities including an eight-court sports hall, a 40-station fitness suite, two dance studios, a full-size floodlit all weather pitch and a MUGA will be created alongside the existing swimming pool, sports hall and external sports pitches.
Ian Morton, managing director of SLL, said: "We are delighted to be nominated as the preferred bidder to manage this exciting new centre, and look forward to working closely in partnership with Rutland County Council, the Vale of Catmose College and other local stakeholders, to deliver a wide range of leisure activities and opportunities for all the local community." Councillor Terry King, deputy leader of Rutland County Council, added: "This is a key project for the council that we are looking forward to delivering for the benefit of our local community.
"We will be working with Stevenage Leisure to make sure that together we are able to provide a first class facility that meets the needs of those who will be using it."
