SLL gains Social Enterprise Mark
Stevenage Leisure (SLL) has been awarded the Social Enterprise Mark, which identifies them as a company trading for social and environmental purposes.
This further recognition follows SLL's award as 'Business in the Community' in the 2009 Hertfordshire Business Awards, which highlighted the social and inclusive dimension of their activities and services across the 17 centres it currently operates. The Social Enterprise Mark is the brand for social enterprises and was launched 1st February, 2010.
The Mark identifies businesses which meet defined criteria for social enterprise, and consumers will recognise that businesses displaying the Mark are trading to benefit people and planet. SLL joins over 160 other ethical businesses that have been recognised by being awarded the Mark such as the Eden Project, Hill Holt Wood, and the Bristol Wood Recycling Project.
Ian Morton, SLL's Managing Director said, "We're proud to have been awarded the Social Enterprise Mark. We are absolutely committed to helping all in our local communities to be more healthy, and thrive through the delivery of high quality and value for money activities and services".
Lucy Findlay, champion from the Social Enterprise Mark Company, advised: "We are delighted to award the prestigious Social Enterprise Mark to Stevenage Leisure Ltd. Social enterprises come in all shapes and forms so it's great to see a vital, local community organisation like SLL understanding the importance of being part of the wider social enterprise brand."
