SBC sports village consultation launches
Scarborough Borough Council (SBC) has launched an eight-week public consultation into three drafts development briefs relating to the resort's proposed sports and leisure village.
The documents contain the plans for the facilities on land at the Weaponness car and coach park, with the existing Seamer Road football ground to be released for development. Filey Road Sports and Tennis Centre and remaining land at the Weaponness site are also to be made available for development in order to fund the sports and leisure village scheme.
The consultation period started on 13 June and will run until 8 August, with the plans put on show as part of exhibitions to be held at a number of venues. SBC strategic director Hilary Jones said: "This is a great opportunity for local people to comment and have their say on the town's future leisure facilities.
"The project will deliver state of the art sports facilities for Scarborough and re-establish a base for football in the town, benefiting the whole community."
