SACDC launches theatre revamp consultation
Local residents in St Albans, Hertfordshire, are being invited to have their say on how the Maltings Arts Theatre can be improved as part of plans to refurbish the venue.
St Albans City and District Council (SACDC) aims to overhaul the theatre and offer a range of films, live performances and events, as well as café/bar facilities and a digital lounge for training sessions and workshops. Residents and the venue's users are now being asked to have their say before the council draws up its final plans, with a questionnaire available to complete until 10 September.
SACDC portfolio holder for culture and heritage Sheila Burton said: "The council is firmly committed to the Maltings Arts Theatre and is planning to refurbish the venue so that it can be used to host a variety of arts events, workshops and shows. "The results of the survey and the opinions expressed on the online forum will help the council to develop a venue that appeals to a broad section of the local community."
The findings from the consultation will be included in a report to go before the council's cabinet on 5 October.
