Roman-themed spa for Puglia
A luxury spa inspired by the bathhouses of ancient Rome called the Egnathia Spa is set to open at a luxury resort in Puglia, Italy.
Created by spa consultants Raison d'Etre, the spa will open in the last quarter of 2010 at the Borgo Egnazia Golf and Spa Resort, which sits between mountains and olive groves near the Adriatic Sea. The first phase - a 63-room hotel and 28 pool villas - opens this May, while 72 townhouses will open later this year.
A "celebration of Puglian architecture, history and tradition", the 19,375sq ft (1,800sq m), the two-storey spa features 12 treatment rooms. There will also be a wet area with a tepidarium, caldarium, frigidarium and two scrub rooms.
Other facilities will include a mani-pedi area, barbershop, hairdresser's, meditation room, yoga studio, gym, café and bookshop.
The spa will utilise the citrus fruits native to the region, with the scent infused in treatment rooms, and lemon, lime and orange oils used in a wide range of facials, wraps and scrubs. Other products will be supplied by Sodashi. Details: www.borgoegnazia.com
