The Rolling Stones’ first ever major art exhibition will be heading across the pond to make its US debut starting November, before heading to Australia in 2018.

Exhibitionism, which completed its run at London’s Gallery'>Saatchi Gallery earlier this month, now travels to multi-studio complex Industria in New York’s West Village, opening 12 November, running through to 12 March 2017.

Beyond that there are plans for the exhibition to make its debut down under, with Exhibitionism coming to Sydney, Australia, at the city’s soon-to-open International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour in November 2018.

Taking place inside the new building’s 35,000sq m (377,000sq ft) exhibition space, the flagship event is expected to deliver an estimated AU$35m (US$26.1m, €23.2m, £19.8m) to the local economy, attracting thousands.

“We’re pleased the greatest rock band of all time has selected Sydney as the only Australian stop on the global tour of their exhibition,” said New South Wales premier Mike Baird.

“It’s a great endorsement for Sydney as Australia’s event capital and we look forward to hosting Exhibitionism at the new ICC Sydney.”

With nine different themed galleries, Exhibitionism features a collection of more than 500 original artefacts from the iconic Rolling Stones, using interactive and cinematic technologies to offer a unique and rare insight into the band’s fifty-plus-year history.

Developed by Australian company International Entertainment Consulting, the exhibition embraces “all aspects of art and design, film, video, fashion, performance, rare sound archives and, the Stones’ musical heritage.”

On display is never previously seen dressing room and backstage paraphernalia, as well as rare instruments; original stage designs, iconic costumes, rare audio tracks and video footage; personal diaries; and album cover artwork.

In addition to original Stones artefacts, the exhibition includes collaborations and work from artists and creators including Andy Warhol, Shepard Fairey, Alexander McQueen, Ossie Clark, Tom Stoppard and Martin Scorsese.

The Exhibitionism tour is scheduled to stop in a total of 11 cities worldwide, with other confirmed locations including Los Angeles and Tokyo.
