Richard Burton trail plans unveiled
Plans for a new 3-mile (4.8km) walking and cycling trail exploring the life of late actor Richard Burton have been revealed by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council (NPTCBC).
The proposed route between Pontrhydyfen and Cwmavon, South Wales, will connect with another route currently being developed as part of the Sustrans Connect2 scheme in the Afan Valley. It is hoped that the Richard Burton Interpretation Project will allow walkers and cyclists to visit special points of interest relating to the life of Burton, who lived in Port Talbot as a youngster.
NPTCBC head of economic development Gordon Andrews said: "We are working with several groups to create a walking and cycling trail using existing trails and networks in Afan Forest Park. "The proposed trail of three miles will highlight points of interest relating to the life of Richard Burton and other attractions within Afan Forest Park."
