Revised £17m plans submitted for New Brighton
Property company Neptune Developments has submitted a revised planning application for a £17m redevelopment of the Floral Pavillion Theatre in New Brighton on the Wirral, Merseyside.
On 1 August, the secretary of state for communities and local government refused the company planning permission for a £73m regeneration scheme in New Brighton.
Neptune Developments now proposes to split the regeneration scheme into a number of phases, of which the £17m Floral Pavillion scheme will be the first.
The Pavillion Theatre will gain a new auditorium and stage alongside a major new performance and exhibition space, enabling the theatre to attract a wider range of events, performances and activities.
A new Town Square will also be created as part of the first development phase, covering 6,300sq ft (585sq m) of public space and including restaurants.
Managing director of Neptune, Steve Parry, said: “We remain fully committed to the comprehensive regeneration of New Brighton as the submission of this planning application demonstrates.
“The Floral Pavillion Theatre is one of New Brighton’s greatest assets. We are optimistic that the first phase of refurbishment is achievable.”
