Reading project receives Football Foundation grant
The Football Foundation has granted the Eversley Sports Association (ESA) £666,000 to assist with building a £1.5m multi-sports facility.
The scheme will see the construction of eight football pitches, and additional cricket square, a new changing complex and an extension to the existing clubhouse.
The site is on a reclaimed quarry and is owned by CEMEX, which has contributed £505,000 in work on land formation, top soiling, car parks and other infrastructure.
Michael Slater, chair of the ESA said: “The project has taken eight years to plan and finance. At long last there will be a focus for sport from junior to senior level in football and cricket in the village.”
Lord Pendry, president of the Football Foundation said: “I am delighted to see strong partnership funding from key private sector supporters and local government donors, which enables money to go even further.”
