REPs to launch new public awareness campaign
The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) is to launch a new public awareness campaign following on from the success of last year’s promotion – Check Out Your Instructor.
Posters displayed in more than 2,000 clubs around the country and coverage in local and national media has resulted in more than 400 additional visits to the REPs’ website every day, with members of the public going online to verify their instructor is qualified and registered.
Registrar Cliff Collins said: “We wanted, through our campaign, to get the message across that membership of the Register validates a fitness instructors’ professional status and that as a professional organisation the Register is dedicated to maintaining and improving standards within the industry.
“What we now want to do is to take public awareness of the Register one step further with an even higher profile campaign in partnership with the Fitness Industry Association (FIA).
“The campaign will give operators a competitive edge in their communities by showing that they are professional by employing registered instructors.
“We will be working very closely with the FIA to make sure that their operator members have all of their instructors signed up and that they are complying with the Code of Conduct.”
Further details on the national campaign will be released in March, with the national campaign starting in April.
