Punch names new CEO
Ian Dyson, since April 2008 the group finance and operations director at Marks & Spencer (M&S), is to be the new chief executive of Punch Taverns.
He will be taking over from previous incumbent, Giles Thorley, who announced his resignation last month. Dyson is expected to join Punch by November. Peter Cawdron, Punch chair, said: "Ian is an exceptional hire who will add further strength to the high calibre team at Punch. He brings a great combination of strategic, operational and financial experience having worked in some of the UK's leading businesses.
"These skills will be invaluable to Punch's future development. I am delighted to welcome Ian to Punch." Prior to joining M&S as group finance director in 2005, Dyson was finance director at the Rank Group. He has also had spells with the Hilton Group, Granada/Forte and Arthur Andersen.
He had been tipped to succeed M&S chief Stuart Rose last year but was passed over in favour of Marc Bolland, previously of the Morrison supermarket chain.
