Public consultation to explore Herne Bay plans
Canterbury City Council (CCC) has launched a six-week consultation to allow local residents to comment on a draft masterplan for the regeneration of Herne Bay, Kent.
The local authority is working with Coplan and Denne to transform the Central Development Area, which will see a new hotel built in the centre of the town in addition to a supermarket, retail units and housing. An exhibition of the plans is being held at Christ Church in William Street until 25 September, while copies of the proposals are available at the council office and Herne Bay library, as well as CCC's main Canterbury-based office.
CCC executive member for Herne Bay regeneration Peter Lee said: "This draft masterplan draws together the results of previous consultations about ideas for the regeneration of the town centre. "It is the final stage before we go ahead and submit a planning application for the scheme, so it's important we get the final seal of approval from local residents."
