Premier Lodge markets short breaks to tired guests
Premier Lodge hopes to raise its brand profile with a new survey on sleep deprivation.
A report by the Consumer Analysis Group, commissioned by the hotel chain, Burnt-out Britain needs a break – but make it a short one, says the average worker misses out on at least one night’s sleep a week.
A team, headed by Jan Walsh, voted Britain’s consumer journalist of the year, conducted research involving telephone interviews with 500 independent workers of all ages and occupations across all regions.
The main message from the research, says Premier Lodge, is that 53 per cent of the country’s workforce needs to re-think how to achieve a better work-life balance.
The analysis concluded that time starvation is the worst offender for “making us feel uptight.” In turn, lack of time “means we fall short of our desired sleep quota, with the average person only getting four night’s worth of sleep in a working week.”
It adds: “Holidays, however, can be a double-edged sword! While most of us take an average of four breaks a year, a third of people feel more stressed at the thought of taking a full week or more off work. It would suggest that short breaks therefore provide the necessary rest and relaxation without creating a desk load of worries on your return.”
Two on-line booking offers have just been launched by Premier Lodge. Book on line and stay for free offers two nights for the price of one at weekends until 14 September. A Christmas promotion offers half-price rooms between 19 December and 5 January. Details: www.premierlodge.co.uk
