Poland launches museum of Jewish history
The Museum of the History of Polish Jews has now opened its doors, on the site of the World War II Warsaw ghetto. More than 2000 people from around the world attended the launch, on 19 April, the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
Recalling the memory of a thousand years of Polish Jewish history, it aims to provide a cutting edge educational and cultural centre and create a platform for social change, dispelling any lingering anti-Semitism.
There are eight galleries and although one covers the Holocaust, the museum is keen for this to be a celebration of life, rather than death. Other galleries will discuss the middle ages and encounters with modernity. The subject will be brought to life through interactive exhibits.
The exhibition has been designed by Event Communications and the design and production work has been carried out by Nizio Design.
