Playboy Club poised for London return
Playboy Enterprises and London Clubs International (LCI) have unveiled plans to launch a new Playboy club in Mayfair, London - 34 years after originally opening in the capital.
The 17,000sq ft (1,579sq m) club will be designed by architects Jestico + Whiles and will be spread across two floors, including a restaurant, a lounge, a members club and table games. High-limit salon privé gaming rooms are also mooted as part of the new Playboy Club, which is being slated to open during the first half of 2011 and signals a return to London for the brand.
Playboy founder Hugh Hefner said: "When we first opened the Playboy Club in London it was one of my favorite times for the brand. "With Playboy now more popular than ever, I look forward to our return to London and again sharing the notions that are celebrated in the magazine."
LCI managing director Michael Silberling added: "When Hugh Hefner opened the original London Playboy Club it redefined class and luxury, setting a new nightlife standard around the world. "LCI is honored to partner with Playboy to return the brand to London and create a club and casino experience for a new generation of Playboy Club members."
The capital's original Playboy Club launched in 1966 at 45 Park Lane and attracted a range of prominent visitors from business, sports and entertainment world.
