Plans for Legoland Florida unveiled
Executives at Legoland in Florida, US held an 'open house' recently where they unveiled renderings of what the new park will look like and gave an outline of what will be on offer at the US's second Legoland site.
It will be divided into areas, which will include City, featuring a driving school where children earn their first 'driver's licence' and families compete on Fun Town Fire Academy to get a fire truck from one side to another and put out a faux fire; Imagination Zone, where children can race cars against each other; and the Duplo Play Area for toddlers. Elsewhere, Factory Tour will reveal how Lego bricks are made; Castle Hill will be a medieval area featuring an indoor/outdoor rollercoaster taking guests on a ride in and out of a castle where a dragon defends his treasure; and Dino Island will see visitors taken on a thrill trip to prehistoric times.
Retail and dining areas are to include The Big Shop, a large Lego retail store, and the Garden Restaurant, serving homemade soups and sandwiches. Legoland Florida, developed by Merlin Entertainments and expected to open in the autumn of 2011, will offer more than 50 rides, shows and attractions - including thousands of Lego models - and joins existing Legoland parks in California, Denmark, Germany and the UK. As with the other four, it will also have its own unique identity reflecting its location.
