Per Aquum Resorts & Spas to manage Universal Resorts portfolio
Per Aquum Resorts & Spas has been set up as a new subsidiary of Universal Enterprises Pvt Limited, to manage its portfolio of resorts.
Universal Enterprises was one of the first companies to set up a luxury resort in The Maldives and has expanded to operate ten properties, since it started in 1972.
The new subsidiary will be responsible for expanding the group’s current portfolio, catering for the luxury end of the tourism market by offering unique style experiences with the emphasis on a high level of service.
Initially, Per Aquum will manage the spas at Dhoni Mighili, which opened in July 2003, Huvafen Fushi and Kurumba – all in the Maldives - but long term, is looking at management contracts outside the Universal portfolio.
Tom McLoughlin, who has been appointed Per Aquum Resorts & Spas’ managing Director says:
“We as a team are looking at expanding Per Aquum on more of a horizontal matrix, where our guests will be able to differentiate our properties by the unique experience that each one offers, as opposed to purely on a star rating.”
When Huvafen Fushi opens in March 2004, each room will have its own private fresh water pool and the spa will feature underwater treatment rooms.
