Pendle Wavelengths in East Lancashire is set to unveil its £3m redevelopment on 29 June, which includes the addition of the Inside Spa.

The spa facility, equipped by Dalesauna, will boast a sanarium, sauna, hydrotherapy pool, salt inhalation steam rooms, an aromatherapy room, foot spas, a rasul mud bath, a dry flotation bed, an ice fountain, monsoon showers and four dedicated treatment rooms offering a range of therapeutic and revitalising treatments.

Chief executive of Pendle Leisure Trust, which operates Pendle Wavelengths, Phil Storey, said: “We are delighted to launch this innovative approach to health and well-being.

“We know that stress is a major health concern and as such want to compliment our already extensive range of sport and fitness facilities with an experience that enables our local community to relax and focus on their inner well-being.

“Our prices will be much more competitive than standard private spas, meaning the facilities will be accessible to everyone.”

The redevelopment was managed by Alliance Spa, part of Alliance Leisure.

Berni Hawkins of Alliance Spa, said: “Spa is in its infancy, just as the fitness market was 10 years ago.

“This has lead many local authorities to see spas as something that’s glamorous and expensive, that’s not for their client base, but this doesn’t have to be the case, and we hope that the launch of this first public sector spa will convince local authorities and trusts that offering high quality relaxation and treatment facilities is the natural next step.”

The redevelopment of Pendle Wavelengths has also included a new 55-station Activo fitness suite equipped by Life Fitness, a dance studio and an Activo junior ‘active’ zone, created for younger users by ZigZag, which will include a Machine Dance system, Exer-Station Pro strengthening game controllers and a Sportwall.
