Original ancient Balinese king's bath to feature at Auriga Spa in Ubud
Capella Hotel Group recently announced the development of the Solís Ubud Resort & Spa – scheduled to debut in 2017 with a spa designed by A.W. Lake – which is set to include an original ancient king’s bath.
Owned by property company PT Mustika Adiperkasa, the 108-bedroom resort will feature a wellness facility which has been designed to recreate the ancient Balinese cleansing rituals carried out by royals in ancient times.
The “Royal Bath Circuit”, for example, is a hydrothermal circuit that offers guests a chance to cleanse themselves in ‘purification fountains’, therapeutic baths and recline on water loungers at the resort’s riverside relaxation deck. There are also steamrooms and saunas at the 1,214sq m (13,067sq ft) Auriga Spa.
Solís Ubud, designed by architecture firm Denton Corker Marshall, is located in the heart of the cultural centre of Bali, set amidst rice paddy fields along the Wos River.
“Solís Ubud has been designed to blend in seamlessly with the area’s beautiful natural surroundings,” said Horst Schulze, chairman and CEO of Capella Hotel Group. “The focus of this property, like other Solís hotels, is to be ingrained deeply in the Balinese way of life.”
The property’s guestrooms and villas will offer panoramic views and scenic riverfront experiences, in addition to access to Ubud’s attractions, ancient sites, plus arts and culture related activities.
A.W. Lake also designed the spa interiors at the Capella Hotel Group’s first property in China, the Solís-branded Han Yue Lou Nanjing Hotel.
Other recent spa developments announced by A.W. Lake include the Water Palace Spa at the Urban Resort Concept-operated PuShang Hotel and Spa in Xiamen, China, which set to open in Q4 of 2016. The IHG-operated Changbai Mountain International Hot Spring Resort will also open in 2015 with an A.W. Lake-designed spa in China’s largest nature reserve near the Korean border, home to the rare Manchurian tiger, snow leopards and wild ginseng.
