North Yorkshire play area schemes approved
Nearly 20 new play areas are to be created across North Yorkshire after the local authority secured more than £1m from the Department of Education.
North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) revealed that it would receive the full allocation earmarked before the government undertook a review of the Playbuilder expenditure. The announcement means that work can continue on 17 'phase two' projects, while a new play site at Ingleby Arncliffe is already complete and open to the public.
Northallerton; Catterick Village; Harrogate; and Scarborough are among the locations that are in line to benefit from new play areas under the council's second phase of work. NYCC executive member for children's services Caroline Patmore said: "North Yorkshire is a large and varied county and we have a great opportunity here to create very different play spaces."
