Ninth HAFOS consumer survey to be carried out in September
The ninth annual HAFOS (Health and Fitness Omnibus Survey) is set to take place in September.
The survey, carried out by Leisure-net Solutions, will study public attitudes towards health, fitness and physical activity, questioning 2,400 people across 10 locations in the UK.
It will concentrate on finding out why people are not more active and what can be done to encourage them to participate in more physical activity and use more leisure, health and fitness facilities.
Mike Hill, managing director of Leisure-net, said: "We have been carrying out HAFOS since 2001 and believe it is the largest and longest running annual survey of its kind in the world.
"It focuses solely on physical activity, leisure and health, and has become the industry's barometer in understanding the changing perceptions of non users and the non active."
Tim Mills, director of business development at Fusion Leisure, one of the sports trusts taking part in the survey, added: "Understanding why people aren't active and choose not to use our facilities is vital to widening the appeal of our proposition.
"Taking part in this year's HAFOS Survey will give Fusion vital information and inform our future marketing strategy going forward."
The 2008 survey, which will be published in November, is supported by sporta (The Sports and Recreation Trusts Association) and CLOA (the Chief Leisure Officers Association), and all members will receive complementary Executive Summaries of the research.
