Ninth Great Wolf Lodge to open in 2007
US-based indoor waterpark resort operator Great Wolf Resorts (GWR) is to open its ninth Great Wolf Lodge in late 2007 in Grapevine, Texas.
Ground has been broken on the Grapevine site, which will cover 450,000sq ft (41,800sq m) and include 404 family suites each, sleeping six to 10 people.
There will be a 98,000sq ft (9,100sq m) indoor aqua entertainment area, heated to a permanent 84 degrees. Attractions will include a wave pool, multiple activity pools, nine waterslides and a six-storey Howlin’ Tornado extreme funnel ride.
The resort will also boast GWR’s signature treehouse waterfort – an interactive family water experience with a body slide at the top and 12 levels of water-based activity, interconnected via suspension bridges, cargo nets and web crawls.
An outdoor waterpark will also be available, featuring two tube slides, a recreation pool, a family whirlpool and a patio area.
Other amenities at the new Texas site will include two restaurants, a 7,000sq ft (650sq m) arcade, an Aveda Concept Spa and a fitness room plus more than 10,000sq ft (930sq m) of meeting and banquet space also available.
GWR also announced that it intends to double its existing waterpark in Traverse City, Michigan. Details: www.greatwolf.com
