Ninjago coming to Legoland California in 2016
Merlin Entertainments has announced plans to open a Ninjago expansion at its Legoland theme park in California.
Set for Q1 of 2016, Merlin has revealed few details about the planned expansion, only that it will be based on Lego Ninjago – which is also featured on a Cartoon Network TV series of the same name – and that a formal press conference to promote the attraction will be held in September.
Through toy sales off the back of the popular kids’ TV show, Ninjago is one of Lego’s most successful IPs. In the last year alone, Lego has introduced 22 new building sets across the Ninjago line.
Speculation indicates the expansion will, at least in part, be similar to that of the Ninjago Training Academy, which opened at Legoland Windsor earlier this year. The interactive area in the theme park’s Imagination Centre lets visitors test and display their building skills in an immersive, Ninjago-themed play area. The new area at Legoland California, which will be located to next to the Imagination Zone, will definitely include interactive elements and a new ride featuring the ninja characters.
