Next stage of New Brighton plans unveiled
Neptune Developments has unveiled its detailed plans for the second phase of the £45m New Brighton scheme in Wallasey, Merseyside following the completion of the new Floral Pavilion Theatre.
Outline planning permission for the next stage of the project was granted by Wirral Council earlier this year, while the first detailed planning application for plans including a new model boat lake and a new seafront promenade was approved in August. At the centre of plans for phase two of the development is the main mixed-use building, which will include a 60-bed Premier Inn hotel, a six-screen, 1,000-seat digital cinema, restaurants and bars, as well as a Morrison's supermarket.
The New Brighton proposals also include a new, crescent-shaped sailing school facility bordering the shore of Marine Lake, as well as a new public lido situated near the model boating lake. Work is expected to begin on the scheme in March 2009, and it is expected be completed by Christmas 2010.
Neptune Developments' managing director, Steve Parry, said: "This will be the final major planning application for our New Brighton project and we are delighted to be getting underway with the main body of the scheme. "The completion of the new Floral Pavilion demonstrates the quality of the whole project."
The Floral Pavilion Theatre opened for the first time on 13 December as part of the first phase of development, which also includes conference facilities.
