New standard for bouncy castles
ASTM International has developed a new standard for inflatable amusements in the U.S.
F2374, Practise for Design, Manufacture, Operation and Maintenance of Inflatable Amusement Devices, aims to fill a growing need within the amusement industry for a standard covering information on all elements of their operation.
Of the introduction of F2374, June Hardin of Wapello Fabrications said: "It will provide safety and conformity within the inflatable industry, conformity being very important because different states currently have varying rules and regulations regarding inflatables".
She continued: "When I started in this business 31 years ago there were about four manufacturers in the U.S. Now I’d say there are at least 240.
"Carnivals and amusement parks have to have their inflatable amusements inspected but rental outlets do not. There needs to be some education on inflatables and hopefully F2374 will provide it".
