New sports hall for Chipping Sodbury school
England women's footballer Sue Smith has helped officially launch a new £3.7m sports hall at Chipping Sodbury School in Gloucestershire.
Designed by South Gloucestershire Council (SGC) in-house architect Nicole Muller, the facility has been delivered by Surrey-based Wates Construction. A 3G artificial pitch also formed part of the scheme, which has been funded by the local authority (£3m) and the Football Foundation (£630,000).
SGC executive member for children and young people Sheila Cook said: "The council and the school have invested significantly in this £3.7m scheme to develop first rate sporting facilities. "The development is also a big boost for the local community who will also be able to use the excellent facilities."
Headteacher Philip Lidstone added: "The feedback from both school users and the wider community has already been fantastic."
