New spa facilities for Deeside Leisure Centre
Flintshire County Council (FCC) has announced that a spa is set to be introduced at Deeside Leisure Centre, Queensferry, as part of a £4m overhaul of the venue.
The new spa will form part of the second stage of the project, which is currently at the detailed design phase and is to be undertaken by Alliance Leisure Services on behalf of the council. A spokesperson revealed that more details will be announced once the process is completed later this year, with construction work due to begin in 2011.
A former first-floor nightclub will be turned into an 80-station fitness suite, two fitness studios and changing rooms as part of the second phase, while an old ice rink will be come an extreme sports facility. Phase one will see the opening of new five-a-side football pitches in November.
