New owner for Derbyshire's Callow Hall
Callow Hall, a Grade II-listed country house hotel near Ashbourne, Derbyshire, has become the latest property to be acquired out of the administration of the von Essen Hotels group.
Christie + Co has sold the property to a private buyer on behalf of administrators Ernst and Young, which follows Halcyon's recent acquisition of seven von Essen properties.
Callow Hall - the 18th von Essen hotel sold since the group entered administration - features 16 bedrooms and a fine dining restaurant. The building is located amid 33 acres (13 hectares) of private gardens.
Last year, it was announced the hotel was one of seven von Essen properties in line to receive spa facilities as part of the former hospitality group's bid to extend its wellness offering.
It is believed that Callow Hall has planning permission for a split-level spa with a number of treatment rooms and a swimming pool, although the facilities are yet to be added.
Christie + Co director of corporate hotels Jeremy Jones said: "Callow Hall is a splendid hotel offering a host of exquisite features for both visitors to the area and to corporate clients alike."
