New-look Kingswood facility complete
Kingswood Leisure Centre has been officially unveiled following the completion of a major £3m refurbishment, which has been funded by South Gloucestershire Council (SGC).
The venue is operated by the Circadian Trust on behalf of the local authority and now offers new-look swimming and fitness facilities following the phased scheme.
Remodelled and refurbished swimming pools were unveiled at the centre in July following a first phase of work, while the second included a new gym area and dry changing facilities.
Kingswood Leisure Centre now boasts more than 30 pieces of new Technogym equipment, along with the supplier's Wellness System and more than 20 spin bikes.
The completion of the refurbishment also coincided with the 50th anniversary of the opening of the first swimming pool for Kingswood, which was known as Soundwell Baths.
SGC chair Mike Drew said: "This is an auspicious occasion as we are celebrating two very significant moments in Kingswood Leisure Centre's history.
"On one hand we are recognising the incredible importance of these facilities today and, at the same time, celebrating the rich heritage and recreational significance they have held for the local community throughout the past five decades."
