Devon County Council (DCC) is considering proposals for the creation of a new flagship heritage centre in Exeter, which forms part of efforts to modernise its heritage service.
The new facility will be located at Great Moor House in Sowton and house resources such as original parish records and the county's collection of historical documents.
DCC's Roger Croad said: "Creating this heritage centre would mean that we can encourage greater community involvement in the heritage work we do."
