New chair of Sport England sports board announced
Sport England has announced that Rauf Mirza will take over as the new chair of the West Midlands Regional Sports Board (RSB).
Mirza, a pharmaceutical consultant who founded the Minority Business Association – a group which provides support for local ethnic minority businesses – wil take over from Derek Anderson.
He will lead the RSB as it implements the regional plan, Sign up for Sport, which will entail around £22m of investment over the next three years.
Chair of Sport England, Patrick Carter, said: "His entrepreneurial spirit and visionary character will help drive forward the strong sporting tradition and success that the West Midlands has already experienced.
"I believe he will make a truly valuable and innovative contribution to Sport England as it works with the Government to get more people in the West Midlands involved in sport."
