New Year's Honours recognise leisure sector
Olympic Delivery Authority chair John Armitt and South Downs National Park Authority chair Margaret Paren have been included in the New Year's Honours List 2012.
A total of 984 individuals across a range of sectors have received accolades, with Armitt - responsible for overseeing the delivery of 2012 Games venues - picking up a knighthood.
Paren, who has led the South Downs National Park Authority since its inception in April 2010, has been awarded an OBE for services to the environment.
Elsewhere, Pleasure Beach Blackpool managing director Amanda Thompson received an OBE for services to the tourism industry.
A number of professional sportsmen and women have been recognised in the New Year's Honours List, along with Giles Clarke - chair of the England and Wales Cricket Board.
