New Year brings fitness boost for fitness fans
Badminton and football enthusiasts are flocking to one of the town's leading sports centres for a New Year health kick.
More than double the number of active locals have hot-footed it down to Doncaster's Rossington Community Sports Village to touch up their football and badminton skills.
Exercise addicts are also enrolling on more classes at the Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust managed site.
Kraig Kelly, health and fitness manager at Rossington Community Sports Village and the Dome, said: "We usually see a rise in customer numbers at this time of year. Yet more and more football fans are snapping up the chance to book our all weather synthetic football pitch and sports hall bookings are soaring - especially for those playing badminton.
"Since we've introduced popular classes run at the Dome - such as the Latin dance inspired Zumba - to this venue, the increase in class numbers has also been phenomenal. It is clear Rossington locals have the desire to up their fitness levels while having fun at our venue."
The state-of-the-art sports centre, which forms part of Rossington All Saints School, is used by the public for a number of sporting activities and its gym facilities when not being used by youngsters during specific school hours.
The centre, which is the first additional venue to be managed under the wider Trust, has now introduced energetic exercise classes to boost fitness levels in the area - including boxercise, step aerobics, spinning and street dance.
