New Sea Life attraction unveiled in Venice
Visitor attractions operator Merlin Entertainments Group has unveiled its new £7m Sea Life centre and marine sanctuary in Jesolo, Venice, Italy.
UK-based architectural firm Kay Elliott are behind the design of the 2,030sq m (21,851sq ft), two-storey attraction, which accommodates more than 5,000 sea creatures. Sea Life Jesolo boasts a number of individual areas that allows visitors to explore a different river or ocean element, with many incorporating a Venitian theme.
The attraction's zones include the Lake Garda freshwater area; River Piave; and a room that has been inspired by the architecture of Venice's Grand Canal. Kay Elliott have also incorporated a computer-controlled LED lighting system as part of the design, which reduces cooling requirements and energy demand.
Phil Webber, Kay Elliott's lead designer on the project, said: "It has been designed as a place where families can bring their children to learn about underwater life through a mix of natural and fantasy environments." Image: Kay Elliott
