National Registers meet at IHRSA
Registrars from exercise registers around the world have had their annual meeting at IHRSA in San Francisco earlier this month (March).
REPs Registrar Jean-Ann Marnoch said: "It was great opportunity to discuss issues that are common to different registers and share good practise in registration processes. This year we concentrated on our colleagues from Australia and New Zealand and taking reciprocal working agreements between us further." Since its inception in 2002 as the first exercise register, REPs has been used as a model for other exercise registers and is helping additional countries including South Africa and Ireland develop plans for their own registers.
REPS UK is now recognised internationally as a world class registration system, being a founding partner in the establishment of the International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionlas (ICREPS) other ICREPs partners are REPS New Zealand and Fitness Australia and Europe through EREPs. ICREPs works collectively for the benefit of all members, and is in active discussion with other countries that are developing exercise professional registration systems. The confederation will continue to grow as futher registrations systems are rolled out in other countries. The registration of exercise professionals worldwide is a popular concept and we are very fortunate that the UK has led the development of such a system.
This relationship with ICREPs provides a streamlined system of International Portability for REPs members, with other ICREPs partners, regardless of where you studied. All of these countries ONLY recognise registration with REPs, and not qualifications from UK and overseas.
