National Media Museum announces job cuts
Bradford’s National Media Museum (NMeM) has announced more details regarding its plans to cut costs and re-emphasise the public offer, with the first phase of this concluding in January.
In October it was revealed the West Yorkshire attraction was undertaking a spending review due to a fall in visitor numbers.
Head of the museum Jo Quinton-Tulloch said nine employees had taken voluntary redundancy, while 23 had been retained in existing positions, new roles and elsewhere within NMeM parent organisation Science Museum Group. A further four roles are yet to be filled.
The museum’s performance came under scrutiny when the Science Museum Group annual report for 2011-12 revealed total visitor numbers of 488,378, down from 501,664 in the previous year, and a mere half of 2001 numbers.
