National Fitness Week to launch in 2009
A UK National Fitness Week is set to make its debut in 2009 to encourage the nation to be more physically active.
Led by health club group Fitness First, the week of campaigns and promotions will take place 2 - 9 February. There will be a dedicated website to act as an information hub during the week, full of simple ideas to help the nation incorporate exercise into their lives. It will also include fitness tips and nutrition advice from personal trainers. John Gamble, managing director of Fitness First, said: "Our aim for the week is to encourage more people to take a look at their lifestyle and try to make positive changes, as well as try out some different ways of exercising to find one to suit.
"We want to break down those perceived barriers which stop many people from exercising and encourage everyone to get active and incorporate exercise into their everyday lives for a healthier, fitter nation."
