National Centre for Youth Arts for Scotland
The Scottish Government has allocated £5m worth of funding towards the development of a new National Centre for Youth Arts in Glasgow as part of its Youth Scots Fund.
It is anticipated that the venue will provide accessible rehearsal and production facilities for the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland and youth dance agency Y Dance among others.
Creative Scotland will take the lead in bringing together relevant partners to draw up detailed plans for the Glasgow facility, which will also provide an administrative base.
Meanwhile, the Youth Scots Fund will also contribute £3m towards a National Conservation Centre in the Forthside area of Stirling, which will offer traditional building skills training.
Due to open in 2014, the institution will be based across two locations and is the result of a partnership between Historic Scotland; Stirling Council; and Forth Valley College.
Scottish culture secretary Fiona Hyslop said: "Scotland is a creative nation, and we want our young people to be the best they can be.
"To allow our young people to realise their potential, it is vital that we celebrate our emerging youth talent and provide opportunities for it to flourish."
