Myzone appoints Vahid Zadeh as its new CTO
Myzone has appointed Vahid Zadeh, as its new chief technology officer to lead the company’s tech development and expansion. He will work with chief digital officer, Leon Rudge.
Zadeh was CTO of a startup called Push for three years before the velocity-based coaching solution was acquired by Whoop in 2021.
Following the deal he spent two years working in data science as a principal tech leader, on the integration of Push tech into the Whoop ecosystem.
The new integration enabled Whoop to extend its functionality in the strength training space with the launch of its Strength Trainer workouts in 2023.
There are similarities between Push and Myzone. The Push strength training system consisted of a wearable accelerometer on a band, a portal, a training management system for coaches and an app to give athletes access to programmes in-club or remotely.
Jay Worthy, CEO, Myzone said: “Vahid has spent the last 10 years working at the forefront of innovation in the wearable tech industry. We're delighted to welcome him to the team, where his knowledge and experience will help us to push the boundaries of performance tracking.”
Zadeh said: “From my first conversation with Jay, I was inspired by his humble, visionary and progressive outlook on business. Marry this with Myzone’s global community of engaged users – all connected through the world’s network of gyms – and I believe we have an exciting proposition perfectly positioned for growth.”
Founded by Dave Wright, Myzone provides heart rate tracking and real-time feedback and is designed to boost motivation by rewarding users for their effort. The company says it's used in more than 9,000 facilities across 84 countries.
Wright stood down as CEO a year ago, handing over to David Stalker, who passed the baton to Jay Worthy in April this year. As group CEO, Worthy was appointed to lead the next stage of growth, with Stalker acting in an advisory role.
As well as developing MZ-Open, the team is focused on playing its part in tackling the inactivity crisis.
