Museums Association extends deadline for Transformers training scheme
The Museums Association (MA) is accepting final submissions for its Transformers programme, a scheme designed to help people in the sector change the way they work for the better.
Following what the MA called an “extremely successful” pilot year, the organisation is bringing back the course between July 2015 and March 2016, with mid-career museum professionals from multiple backgrounds participating in personal development programmes. The sessions are designed to encourage healthier, more resilient, diverse and adaptable organisations.
24 places funded by Arts Council England (ACE) are available in England, while two places – funded by Museums Galleries Scotland – are available in Scotland. Finally, one place funded by Amgueddfa Cymru and the Welsh Museums Federation is available for a Welsh organisation.
“Our vision is that Transformers will offer museums and the individuals who work in them to explore ways of being more central to their communities, more agile, more able to test out innovative commercial and operational practice and more able to foster working cultures which allow risk and failure,” said a statement from MA.
“This programme offers participants a space in which to test out new ideas, responding to the social, political and economic challenges that museums are currently facing.”
The deadline for submissions for the scheme has been extended to 27 May at 5pm. For more information and to apply, click here.
