Mumbai race circuit scheme moves forward
Capita Symonds, Populous and Delhi Integrated Multi Modal Transit System (DIMTS) are to draw up plans for a new motor racing venue and regeneration project in Mumbai, India.
The consortium has been selected by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation to prepare a masterplan and business case for the multi-purpose complex.
Initial work will involve the identification of a potential location for the venue and associated development, followed by a document that assesses market demand and site opportunities.
Among the issues to be considered by the consortium are accessibility; traffic management; sustainable transport links; and infrastructure gap assessments.
The team will also work alongside Formula One Management and Féderation Internationale de l'Automobile to ensure the venue meets licensing and regulatory requirements.
Capita Symonds' Jerry Muscroft said: "Our appointment reflects the consortium's growing strength in masterplanning, transportation and design of some of the world's leading motor racing circuits and regeneration projects."
John Rhodes of Populous added: "This is an exciting opportunity to create a very special circuit and facility in Mumbai and India as well as a development that will help bring diverse investment."
