McCulloch and Coulthard head for UK
Hotelier Ken McCulloch has teamed up with Formula 1 driver David Coulthard to open the UK's first luxury Columbus Hotel.
The £20m destination hotel will be located at the Mercedes Benz Heritage and Technology Centre near the Brooklands racing circuit in Weybridge, Surrey.
McCulloch, who owns the famous Columbus Hotel in Monaco, had been searching for an appropriate location for the UK's first Columbus for some time.
The hotelier wanted to continue the association between the brand and the world of motor racing a deciding factor for both enrolling Coulthard and choosing the location.
"This project will revive the legends of yesteryear when Brooklands was the highlight of the racing calendar," said McCulloch.
Columbus Hotel Brooklands will have 109 rooms – including two penthouse suites – and facilities will include a spa, a health and fitness club, a restaurant and conferencing amenities.
