The JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa in Hawaii, US, is to begin offering allergy-friendly guest rooms, meeting rooms and a spa.

The resort is to adopt the PURE allergy-friendly environment system, beginning with all of its guestrooms, with the Ihilani Spa converted by the end of this year.

The system minimises irritants from all room surfaces and filters the air.

Contaminants are removed from bedding, carpets, walls, furniture and air conditioning before a patented Tea Tree Oil Cartridge is fitted, which acts as a disinfectant. Soft surfaces are also cleaned with a bacteriostatic barrier.

On average, the PURE air purification system, developed by US-based Pure Solutions, provides air quality four times cleaner than the US threshold for asthma patients.
