Mansfield gyms to be revamped in £500k leisure investment
The gyms at all five Nottinghamshire leisure centres run by Mansfield District Leisure Trust are to undergo improvements as part of a £500,000 investment programme.
Work has already started at Water Meadows Swimming and Fitness Complex, with its gym to boast new audio-visual displays on its cardio equipment and new resistance machines.
Due to relaunch on 11 August, the gym will also house a larger specialised fitness area after work is completed. Other facilities at the venue remain open as normal.
Oak Tree Leisure Centre's gym is to be closed between 13 and 25 August, with new equipment and virtual indoor bicycles to be installed as part of its upgrade.
Life Fitness is the main equipment supplier as part of the gym refurbishments, while Livestrong indoor bicycles and equipment from Octane and Trixter will also be provided.
Gym facilities at Meden Sports Centre (28-31 July); River Maun Recreation Centre (29-30 July); and Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre (13-14 August) are also being revamped.
Mansfield District Leisure Trust chair Brian Taylor said: "With the desire for more people to get fit following on from the Olympics, the facilities are geared up to welcome beginners to exercise and fun."
Earlier this year, the trust - with Serco as managing agent - was confirmed as the operator of Mansfield District Council's leisure facilities.
