MPs hear from Walthamstow campaigners
Saveourstow, a campaign group aiming to re-establish Walthamstow Stadium as a venue for greyhound racing, has gone before an all Parliamentary group of MPs at Westminster.
London and Quadrant (L&Q), the owner of the stadium site, is planning a £50m overhaul of the site to include a leisure centre, public spaces and a residential development. L&Q's David Montague and Waltham Forest Council leader Chris Robbins are now to be invited to appear before the group in relation to the proposals.
Wansbeck MP Ian Lavery said: "I am amazed and deeply disappointed at L&Q's three year delay to bring forward a planning application for the site. "We will be calling London & Quadrant and the Council Leadership to appear before our Parliamentary Committee to discuss the issue."
